Monkton Wyld Farm

5929842a-0e07-4ed0-bcad-e41dbe1d9472
MONKTON WYLD combines the rural feel of the country, while still being close to the sea. Easily accessible off the A35, it feels like you’re in the middle of the countryside as you enter this beautiful, immaculate site.

The huge rockery that greets you abounds with colour and everywhere there are flower beds, trees and colourful bushes – so much so that the site has been awarded the David Bellamy Award for conservation. The farm itself was voted Best Meat Producer of the Year 2006, and meat and homemade sausages are available in the reception area.

There are now 170 pitches, set in different locations throughout the gardens, with two large tent fields, well screened for protection in wet weather. The good play area has a huge space for ball games and nature lovers can roam through the large conservation area full of wild plants and flowers. Even the dog is catered for with a huge exercise field that just asks you to throw his ball (but will he bring it back?) and thanks to the comfortable seats provided this is a great place to while away the hours.

The first toilet facility has to be one of the best we have ever seen – in the ladies block each cubicle contains toilet, shower and hand basin, with an excellent mother and baby room boasting a shower. The second block, in the new adjoining area, is smaller, but modern and very clean. The two laundry rooms have modern machines, with an exterior drying area, and an enormous dishwashing and vegetable preparation area with microwave. Needless to say, like the whole site, these modern facilities were immaculate.

TV reception is average, with O2 mobile phone coverage reasonable and Vodafone good.

The site is around three miles from the sea at Charmouth, Lyme Regis is nearby, too, and forms part of the Jurassic Coast of Dorset, a World Heritage site. The local entertainment listing ‘Resort’ details lots of local tourist attractions, such as Dinosaurland and the Bovington Tank Museum.
