Mannix Point Caravan & Camping Park

17ae5b44-4d7c-4095-abc7-81c915939aac
SET in a delightful waterfront location on the Gulf Stream coast of south west Kerry, Mannix Point offers spectacular views from its pitches and is geared up to suit both motorhomes, caravans and tent campers.

Close to the picturesque island of Valentia, the site is ideal for those interested in watersports, offering windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. The site has 500 metres of stoney waterfront that is ideal for exercising dogs (on the site they need to be kept on a lead).

The site offers 42 pitches, with 35 offering 13 amp electric hook-ups and aimed at motorhomes and caravans. Gravelled hardstandings are available, too. Tents are also welcome and can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the shoreline.

On site facilities include a brick-built toilet block that houses showers, toilets and washbasins. There’s also a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, a washing up area, plus a neat reception well stocked with leaflets detailing local activities.

The whole site benefits from the personal touch of the owner and this family feel extends throughout the site, with the camper’s kitchen providing a friendly communal feel and offering cookers, microwaves, fridges and freezers for guests use. There’s also a dining room and, when the weather is fine, an outside barbecue area and picnic area.

In the evenings, there’s a cosy campers sitting room that’s warmed by a turf fire. It’s here you’ll enjoy the real Irish ‘craic’ with many cheery impromptu music sessions taking place. Their online visitors book is filled with reviews from people all across the world who have enjoyed being a part of this convivial atmosphere. The site owner pleasingly comments that there is no television, no pool tables and no video games to be found here and the site is all the better for this. It’s little wonder, then, that the site has picked up so many awards over the years.

The site itself is set to the south west of the town of Cahirciveen (which has several spellings to confuse the unwary), which is a small town that offers restaurants, pubs and all manner of local shops. Being so close to the coast, seafood fresh from the Atlantic is a speciality of the region.

As well as the scenic delights of the region, locally you can enjoy horse-riding, sea and river fishing, diving, bird-watching, golf, scenic cycle rides and car trips, as well as art galleries, potteries, archaeological sites and all manner of great pubs. It's also worth noting that Mannix Point is the closest campsite to the departure point for the boat that takes you on a tour of the Skelligs which are famous for their gannet and puffin populations.
