Lavender Fields Touring Park

42e90af2-9e35-41eb-8eb6-b3a3b749d369
THIS family-run touring park is set in on the outskirts of the villages of Carnhell Green and Barripper and offers 45 pitches, 21 of which are on hardstandings. A limited number are said to be extra large - so even larger motorhomes or twin-axle caravans can be catered for if you book in advance. All pitches have electric hook-ups and there are fresh water fill points dotted throughout the site.

RVs up to 40ft welcome. Storage and seasonal pitches available.

On-site facilities also include a modern toilet block that offers showers, toilets, shaver sockets, disabled facilities and a laundry room. Dog owners will be pleased to note that the site is unusual in offering canine showers, too - perfect for preventing your pooch tramping muddy paws through your leisure vehicle. Naturally, there's a dedicated dog walk on site, too, so dog owners are particularly well catered for here.

Although there's no restaurant or pub on site, the local villages of Carnhell Green and Barripper are just a few minutes walk from the site. Here you'll find the local stores, a post office and a couple of inns. Both the Pendarves Inn and St Michael's Mount Inn serve traditional ales and offer fine food.

Outside the site entrance is a bus-stop for the local T20 Truronian bus service which can take you to both Helston and Redruth (where you'll find public transport links to many places in the county). For motorhome owners, not having to drive again once you pitch up may be very appealing.

There are a great many places to explore in this part of the world and few people can fail to be charmed by the delightful Marazion Beach that overlooks the wonderful St Michael's Mount. It's less than 10 miles from the site (the owners reckon it's about an 18-minute drive) and at low tide you can walk across a causeway to the Mount and explore its exotic gardens and medieval castle.

For beaches you're spoilt for choice with Carbis Bay Beach being about nine miles away (17-min drive), Crantock Beach under 23 miles away (34-min drive), Praa Beach under 11 miles (19-min drive) and Portminster Beach being under 11 miles away (21-mins) to name but a few.

There are many cultural delights in the region too including Truro Cathedral (18 miles), the Poldark Mine (7.7 miles), the Minack Theatre (22.3 miles) and of course the touristy charms of Land's End (22.3 miles). Families also have much to do in the area with the Flambards theme park, Crealy Adventure Park and Newquay Zoo all being just a short drive away.
