Adria celebrates 60 years of production

Six decades of Adria
The Slovenian caravan manufacturer, Adria, celebrates 60 years of production this year – and 20 years since the iconic two-berth Action was launched.
The Action was originally conceived, in 2005, as a demo series of just 50 units. It turned out to be a runaway success and, at the end of April this year, 9,951 Actions had been produced.
2026 launch
For 2026, a new Action will be launched, designed by Nina Mihovec, who designed the very first Action.
Since 1965 Adria has produced 570,000 caravans and is sold in more than 30 countries. But for those who thought that the name Adria came from the Adriatic Sea, here’s some news. It stands for Adventurous, Dynamic, Recognised, Innovative and Ambitious!
The first Adria, called the 375, took two months to produce. It was designed by Martin Sever, an engineer who then took it 1,200 miles to an exhibition in Stockholm, where it sold – this caravan became the foundation for Adria’s success.
In the 1970s, the Adria brand came to dictate the tempo of other European producers, by introducing double-glazed windows and warm-water heating in its larger models.
This, Adria now says, “catapulted Adria to the very summit of European caravanning.”
