Knaus sees record demand for its models
The Knaus Tabbert Group, the German manufacturer of motorhomes, campervans and caravans, sold a record €1.05 billion-worth (£910m) of leisure vehicles over the last financial year – an increase of almost 22% compared to the previous year
It said the record was the result of “unbroken high demand for leisure vehicles in Germany and Europe”, adding that it could have sold even more had the supply chain issues not resulted in fewer models being built.
In a statement, the manufacturer said,
The actual sales potential based on high market demand and order backlogs could not be fully met. This was due to a lack of deliveries, in particular motorised chassis, as a result of interrupted supply chains and a global shortage of semi-conductors, which Knaus Tabbert was able to partially compensate for by producing caravans.
Knaus also compensated by diversifying the range of chassis it builds on and now offers models from five different chassis suppliers. As with almost all manufacturers, Knaus is working to clear its backlog of orders as well as meet the new orders its dealers have taken, which, as of 31 December, stood at 30,711 units, of which around 58% are motorhomes and campervans.
