Bailey joins push to protect UK tourism industry
Bailey of Bristol has become the latest UK leisure vehicle manufacturer to back the Back British Holidays campaign, the national initiative from Out & About Live aimed at protecting and promoting domestic tourism.
For more than 75 years, Bailey has been at the heart of British holidays, with its caravans, motorhomes and campervans helping hundreds of thousands of families explore the UK’s countryside and coast. Now, the company is throwing its support behind the campaign, which calls for greater government action to safeguard an industry vital to local economies.
UK tourism under pressure
Recent figures underline the urgency of the campaign. While some regions have bucked the trend – with Norfolk (+34%), Gwynedd (+32%) and Somerset (+31%) seeing significant growth – overall domestic trips fell by more than 10% in 2024. Forecasts also predict tens of millions fewer UK holidays in the coming years, potentially costing the economy over £23 billion and putting thousands of jobs at risk.
Bailey says its support reflects a long-standing commitment to ensuring UK holidays remain accessible and sustainable for future generations.
“For 75 years and counting, Bailey caravans, motorhomes and campervans have helped people enjoy holidays across the UK,” the company said. “We’re proud to back this campaign to ensure the businesses that make these experiences possible can continue to thrive.”
