Award categories 2024
The awards were judged by Caravan magazine Editor, Louise Cottrill, and long-time friend of Caravan magazine, Val Chapman. Over the last few months, the duo have be out and about with clipboards in hand, judging the new-season models.
Caravan of the Year
Our ultimate award, won by the caravan that we judged to be the best caravan for 2024.
In this category, the judges were looking for the best, no-expenses spared, highest-specification model that would most appeal to those looking for unsurpassed levels of comfort.
A category in which space – and storage capability – are key factors. We looked at five and six-berths in our quest to find a very special family caravan. And we found one with some innovative features, too.
Straying away from mainstream tourers in search of an award winner is rather fun. We looked for a caravan with outstanding and totally unique visual appeal while also having excellent tourer practicality.
Best Lightweight and Compact Caravan
It’s easy to quantify a tourer if you simply look at figures relating to size and weight, but our winner had to have special appeal as well as being light in weight and compact in size.
Best Caravan Under £30,000
The winner of this category has to earn a big, fat tick the box marked ‘value’, of course – but it’s the elements that make a caravan special that are important – and that’s what we assessed closely in the quest for the winner in this category.
We sought out a classic two-berth tourer for this award. Among elements that we scrutinised was kitchen size and storage capability, as well as weight. We were looking for a tourer with outstanding features – and we found one…
We assessed single-axle, fixed bed models for this award. In an area of the market where competition is at its most fierce, with so many models from which to choose, it was a tough task to pick one.
Caravan Dealer of the Year
This public vote saw caravaners from across the UK vote for their favourite caravan dealer, one who goes above and beyond to give top-quality service.
Judges: Louise Cottrill and Val Chapman
Louise Cottrill, Editor of Caravan magazine, is part of the judging panel. Louise assessed caravans from across Europe and the UK to narrow down the shortlists and pick the winners.
As the new Editor of Caravan, Louise has enjoyed many years of caravanning with her family.
Val Chapman is a well-known face and expert in the caravan industry, a caravan reviewer for Caravan magazine and former Editor of Warners’ Caravan Buyer magazine.
With years of knowledge about caravans, Val is well-placed to compare the fierce competition.
