Why the Adria Altea 622 DK Avon caravan?
If there’s one feature that defines family caravans, it’s bunk beds. Not least because kids love bunk beds because they provide their own secluded space.
There is a good choice of caravans that have two bunks – but only one has three. And that makes the Adria Altea Avon a very special tourer.
The base bunk is at floor level, making it perfect for the youngest member of the family; there’s no risk of falling out of bed – or, if they do, they simply roll onto the carpet. The centre bunk is easy to crawl into, and there’s a ladder for the top bunk. Usefully, the base bunk area can be used for storage (ideal when you are on tow); there is a large hatch to the exterior.
Another significant feature of this tourer is the way in which the bunk area is divided from the rest of the caravan – by a pleated, stiffened partition of a dense-enough fabric to exclude almost all light. It’s far more effective as a light barrier than curtains. It also adds to the overall quality look of the caravan.

A look inside
A table for two is opposite the bunks; this can be transformed into a single bed. During the day, though, it’s a place for playing, perhaps, as well as for mealtimes. Together with the bunks, it makes a lovely kids’ zone.
For 2023, the Altea Avon gained lots of refinements compared with previous models. Among them is the lighting design. There is a total of 15 bright, movable spotlights; seven on tracks in the lounge, some above windows, three in the centre of the lounge ceiling, three above the rear dining area, one in each of the rear corners and an individual one in each bunk area. LED strips are concealed above all of the top lockers, creating a rim of light around them. It all adds up to a stunning lighting design that gives the Avon bags of character.

What else does it have to offer?
Another contributor to the refined and cosy character of this tourer is the grey finish to the side wall of the lounge; it looks like fabric, until you touch it and realise it’s very high-quality wallpaper.
And there’s more to make this caravan special. When the lounge becomes a bedroom, you can pull a partition across to divide it from the rest of the caravan – and it’s of the same high-quality fabric as that which secludes the bunks. When it’s closed, it is held in place by a small magnet on the woodwork and a magnet hidden within the fabric, and there are no straps that can be pulled off or lost over time; very refined.
The Avon has plenty of storage space – so essential for a family caravan. There are two wardrobes, seven top lockers and, of course, space under the lounge and rear seating area.
