Highland Games & Scottish traditions
Blair Castle (24 May, 2026)
Atholl Gathering
There are few events which capture Scotland’s traditions like the Atholl Gathering, held in the historic grounds of Blair Castle.
Each year, the Atholl Highlanders – Europe’s only private army – march with pipes and drums, officially opening the games. Expect heavyweight contests like tossing the caber, hammer throwing, shot putt and tug of war, alongside Highland dancing, piping competitions and family races. Trade stands, food stalls and children’s rides make this as much a family day out as a showcase of Scottish tradition. Bring a blanket and stake your place on the hillside for the ultimate view. Tickets and the line-up for 2026 will be released soon.
