One of the UK's Oldest Holiday Parks Celebrates 90 Years

Thought to be one of the UK's oldest continuously family-run licensed holiday parks, Andrewshayes Holiday Park in East Devon is celebrating 90 years since receiving its first camping licence.

The East Devon Premier Park marked the milestone with an anniversary celebration, bringing together current and former guests, past employees and friends of the park. Visitors enjoyed a barbecue, traditional Devon cream teas, live music and entertainment, with generations of families returning to celebrate decades of holidays at Andrewshayes.

Andrewshayes' history dates back to 1929, when Stan and Marjorie Lawrence began welcoming campers to their dairy farm for extra income. The park secured one of the UK's earliest camping licences in 1936 following the introduction of new Public Health legislation, offering visitors simple camping facilities in the East Devon countryside.

A major transformation followed in 1960, when new regulations prompted Harry and Stephanie Lawrence to upgrade the site with modern amenities and facilities, together with static caravans, helping shape the holiday park it is today.

The family sold their dairy herd in 1997 to focus entirely on tourism. Since then, Andrewshayes has continued to grow, investing in the park while successfully navigating economic challenges and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Andrewshayes has earned multiple tourism accolades, including Holiday Park of the Year at the 2020 Devon Tourism Awards, Silver at the 2025 Devon Tourism Awards and TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Award.

The park is now entering a new chapter, with fourth-generation family members Josh Lawrence and his wife, Grace, leading the business while continuing its long-standing family values.

Today, Andrewshayes offers self-catering holiday caravans, touring caravan, motorhome and camping pitches, alongside facilities including an outdoor swimming pool, clubhouse, children's play areas and a woodland walk, providing an ideal base for exploring East Devon and the Jurassic Coast.
