  • What is an adults-only campsite?

An adults-only campsite is exactly as it sounds – a campsite or touring park across the UK that only allows adults to pitch up and stay. Campsites just for adults offer a tranquil retreat among other like-minded guests who enjoy child-free holidays.

You might have older children who no longer go on holiday with you, or be having a holiday to yourself for a change.

  • Why pick an adults-only campsite?

Everyone needs a little peace and quiet sometimes. With a child-free environment a UK campsite for adults only offers exactly that.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic couples’ getaway, somewhere to enjoy a break with friends, or a tranquil retreat for a solo traveller, you can get all this with an adults-only campsite.

  • What can you expect at an adults-only campsite?

Locations, pitches and facilities vary from campsite to campsite. Some adults-only campsites are small and rural, offering a tranquil retreat for solo campers to recharge their batteries and enjoy some time to themselves. Couples might like a woodland retreat with lake views or a countryside location. Adults holidaying with friends can seek out a campsite with a bit more activity, such as being located near the coast or with activities like golf and cycle hire nearby.

Most adults-only campsites will have pitches for motorhomes, campervans, caravans and tents. Some will also have glamping units and self-catering such as caravan holiday homes and lodges with hot tubs. Most will also welcome dogs.

Facilities will vary but the majority of UK campsites for adults only will have electric hook-up, grass and hardstanding pitches, and toilet and shower blocks. Some adults-only campsites will also have facilities geared towards adults such as a bar or restaurant, a fishing lake, boules courts or nature trails.

  • Where are the most popular adults-only campsites?

There are adults-only campsites located across the UK, but some of the most popular UK destinations for adults-only holidays include the southwest of England, such as Cornwall with its stunning beaches.

Another favoured location is an adults-only campsite in Wales, to explore this country’s three national parks and breathtaking countryside.

  • Are young adults allowed at an adults-only campsite?

Most campsites for adults only will only allow guests aged 18 or over to stay on site. There are some adults-only campsites that do accept children aged over 14 and some that allow young adults aged 16 or over.

It should be clearly explained on each campsite’s website what the restrictions are.

  • Will adults-only campsites allow 17-year-olds?

Much like the previous FAQ above, it is advisable to check the particular adults-only campsite's website to see what the rules and restrictions on young people are.

Most campsites for adults only will only allow guests aged over 18. There are some adults-only campsites that do accept older children, such as those ages 16 or over. It should be clearly explained on each campsite’s website.
