Meet The Speakers

The Roaming Radfords

Since 2007, The Roaming Radfords, with their 3 son’s, have travelled extensively by motorhome through the UK, Europe and US. They set off on each trip with only a rough destination in mind, allowing the roads they take and the places they stop to evolve as they meet new friends along the way.

Wandering Bird (Kat)

4 years ago, Kathryn Bird quit her job as an air traffic controller to tour Europe in a motorhome. Along with her (slightly bewildered) husband and Mac their cocker spaniel, they've spent most of that time on the road (give or take 2020.) She is passionate about encouraging others to have their own adventures, whether it's a 3-month tour or a quick weekend trip down the road.

The Urban Motorhome (Darran)

'Since 2017 Darran has lived full-time in his motorhome rarely staying on campsites. Instead, he finds the majority of his parkups on streets, industrial estates and urban car parks. Over the last 6 years Darran has seen many ups and downs of full-time van living. Gaining a wealth of experience he successfully parks where most wouldn’t dare. He’s picked up many tips and tricks that keep that trademark cheeky smile on his face.

Life Beyond Bricks (Tash & Jon)

Tash and Jon have been motorhoming together since 2014. They loved it so much that at the end of March 2019 they sold their house and hit the road full-time with their 3 gorgeous cats. As avid history and outdoor lovers they have extensively toured some of the UK’s most amazing places. More recently Jon, Tash and their cats have ventured out to explore more of Europe in their Adria Sonic.

Siobhan Daniels
Solo Female Travelling Workshop | 2pm Saturday

Siobhan (63) retired from the BBC three years ago, after a 30 year career working as a Reporter, Presenter and Producer in local News. During that time she overcame many challenges including working full time as a single mother. At nearly fifty, when her daughter had gone off to university, Siobhan took a gap year from work and backpacked solo around the world. This remarkable trip changed her forever, and she began to develop her plan to one day travel the UK, the idea of the motorhome came later! By her mid-fifties she felt burnt out, whilst battling with menopause symptoms, she was also facing ageism and bullying at work. Siobhan knew she needed to find her escape plan. In 2019, aged sixty, she took early retirement, sold her belongings, bought a motorhome and embarked on her solo trip around Great Britain! She now passionately champions positive ageing, constantly calling out ageism and ageist stereotypes, and refuses to accept the narrow stereotypes of retired women. Siobhan now uses her blog, Instagram, published articles and public speaking activities, to challenge and change the narrative around ageing, to inspire as many women as possible, to step out of their comfort zone and follow their retirement dreams. Since Siobhan embarked on this journey she has had to face her fears, weather severe storms and of course the pandemic challenges but she cannot emphasise enough how fantastic this experience makes her feel. Fully alive! In control! At one with nature! And totally inspired to get her message out there, to young and old EMBRACE AGEING!

These Girl Vans - The story behind the growing community of solo female camping | 3pm Sunday

Hollie bought a campervan in October 2021 having never driven a van before. She travels around the UK with her two children and their dog, leaving her husband behind to work. She feels strongly about empowering other women to feel confident to travel and has recently created a community called 'These Girls Van'. The women support each other with vanlife and camp together at different places around the UK- arriving as strangers and leaving as friends.

Touring With The Kids
Full time vanlife with kids - Why you should visit Norway | 3pm Saturday

In 2019, Ric and Keira sold their house and spent 6 months travelling Europe with their 2 kids. Wanting more adventure, they left the rat race once again in 2022 for a life on the road with their now 3 kids and dog in their self converted van. Always on the lookout for outstanding landscapes, they are big fans of Scandinavia, having travelled through all 4 countries as well as reaching Nordkapp, the most northerly point of mainland Europe twice.

BlueFix Energy (Mark & Luke)

When the COVID pandemic hit us, Luke’s phone stopped ringing for his property maintenance business and Mark, at that time was looking for a new venture, something different from his 25 years in IT, networks and commercial electrical work. Mark had started selling and supporting Victron equipment to the van life community including Luke. Luke, AKA Lukes Van Life! had done some super tidy installations and was getting noticed. Mark and Luke were working more and more together when Victron Energy got in contact and asked if they could film one of Lukes installations, it was decided that Mark and Luke would team up and BlueFix was born.
