Wingamm motorhomes return to UK
Wingamm returns to the UK with modern monocoque motorhomesWith Wingamm Motorhomes back in the UK, MMM magazine spoke to Gavin Campbell, MD of the Edinburgh-based British import and sales operation.
The move to re-introduce the Italian brand of motorhomes back into the UK has taken two years to come to fruition. In the past, Wingamm UK has only handled Micros, but from now on the full range of Micros, GrandCru, City-Suite, Brownie and Oasi will be available.
All come with stylish Italian interiors, waterproof and damp-resistant fibreglass monocoque bodies with a 10-year guarantee. This has been one of the driving forces in the re-introduction of the range according to Gavin: “People have had problems with leaks and damp so there has been demand and interest in fibreglass bodies.”
It isn’t just that though, Gavin insisted that “...many would-be buyers have been put off by dated interiors. These have modern furnishings and Italian style.”
Wingamm is working with sister company, Aston Leisure, to update the range of vehicles available to rent but won’t be appointing any third-party dealers for the range just yet.
Each motorhome is built to order with a focus on quality and reliability to detail and, until Wingamm has assessed dealers for their ability to maintain this, the company will deal with all orders itself.
As regards which are expected to be most popular, Gavin remarked that: “The Micros and City-Suite, are expected to be the leaders. With more luxury they will compete with ‘van conversions. They are also great for rental purposes because they are easy to repair the odd knock and bump.”
