Shield Total Insurance launches an extended warranty plan for new or used motorhomes
Shield Total Insurance, the award winning leisure sector specialist, has launched a Complete Warranty Plan for new and used motorhomes as an addition to its insurance policies. It covers the repairs or the replacement of all standard mechanical or electrical components.
The extended warranty also covers all call-out fees and parts and labour charges. There is an annual premium of £300 for motorhomes with a monthly payment plan available, and no limit on the maximum number of claims. The plan also covers the repairs for any water ingress in motorhomes that are up to six years old since first registration, up to a maximum of £750 per claim, with a damp report required when taking out the policy.
Consumables such as tyres and brake pads are excluded from the company’s policy. The warranty plan does not cover ‘wear and tear’, accidental damage, routine maintenance, items that have not been routinely serviced, water ingress damage caused by storm, tempest or flood, or items that were not fitted as part of the motorhome manufacturer’s ‘standard specification’.
Shield states that its UK call centre co-ordinates all calls and gets an approved mobile engineer to call within 4 hours and visit to assess/fix the issue and repair faults that occur in the UK.
Trips abroad are covered for 240 consecutive days with Shield stating it would source a “local repairer” if required.
