RP Overland launches Smart Assist

The off-grid campervan that you can talk to!

RP Overland launches its latest tech: Smart Assist!

RP Overland, the Yorkshire-based builder of off-road, off-grid Mercedes-based luxury campervans, has unveiled its latest innovation – a campervan that you can give voice instructions to. Using an iPad and RP’s new Smart Assist, you can now talk to your campervan!

Steve Young, owner of RP, unveiled the company’s new Rebel Raid model at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC in February, complete with the company’s latest tech, which was developed in-house. Not only can you give the campervan instructions like, “Hey Siri, lights on” or “Hey Siri, night-time mode” but the new iPad system will send you alerts, via an app and email, if there are potential problems such as the temperature inside the vehicle dropping to a point where services might freeze, or the battery levels reduce too far. It will also copy these alerts to the RP factory, so that it can avoid disaster if the owner is away and cannot reach their vehicle.

Peter has reviewed everything from the smallest micro-camper to the biggest Liner-type A-classes you can drive on a C1 licence, and driven motorhomes all over the world.

Based on the six-metre Mercedes Sprinter 4x4, the new Rebel Raid also enjoys a number of other new features. It gets the generator system from the larger Rebellion, providing 5kW of power directly from the engine, for the first time in the 6m van.

There’s also a new water filtration system, with three-stage filtering and a final stage that removes any taste from the polypropylene of the tank and requires no UV light. So, now you can have perfect drinking water wherever you are in the world. The Rebel Raid has a 184-litre fresh water tank, plus a further 10 litres in its boiler.

Finally, RP has also introduced a powerful new automotive air-conditioning system mounted under the vehicle, which will only require re-gassing at the annual habitation service.

These new features (and more) will be seen in the 7m Rebellion when the new version is launched later this year.
