Pope Francis presented with Fiat motorhome

The Holy Father would probably be the last person you’d expect to see on your local campsite but, after Fiat Professional and Trigano presented him with a Fiat Ducato 150 Multijet2 based low-profile motorhome, you never know. The occasion was the Open Air Jubilee, organised by Italian outdoor motorhoming magazine PleinAir. Over 5,000 motorhome enthusiasts packed into St. Peter’s Square in Rome to hear the Pope speak. The event was one of many that the Vatican has organised for the Pope’s Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy. Upon being presented with the motorhome, Pope Francis announced to the crowd, “Saluto i camperisti e ringrazio per il camper che sarà destinato alla Diocesi di Roma per essere impiegato nelle attività assistenziali.” Roughly translated it means, “Greeting campers and thank you for the camper which will be allocated to the Diocese of Rome to be used in charitable activities.”

The motorhome was displayed in St. Peter’s Square until the end of the Open Air Jubilee and then it will be used by his Diocese for charitable work.
