Niesmann+Bischoff wows with new Flair luxury motorhome

German motorhome firm, Niesmann+Bischoff, only builds luxury motorhomes, but for the coming season (2023), it has focused its attention on a new Flair, which is part of its liner-class range

A result of two years in development, the new Flair is more redolent of a modern apartment than a motorhome, with many domestic features. Let’s start on the outside with a whole new look that sets the headlights further apart, while the LED DRLs have an integrated indicator signal and the rear LED lights are distinctively shaped, too. The tinted real glass windows in the living and sleeping area, which are part of the new Liner Pack give a particularly automotive look. A new, highly functional double floor provides enough space for two sliding storage units offering up to practical 11 boxes.

Inside, however, a much more modern look sets the motorhome apart from previous years. Choose between a warm walnut or light oak décor for the general scheme, plus the kitchen drawers and overhead doors can be specified separately in either of the two woods or a white finish, to either blend in with the other décor or offer contrast.

Niesmann+Bischoff has worked hard to make interiors more spacious, emphasised by a clear line of sight from the cab to the bedroom.

If you specify the front bed, integrated mouldings help hide this from view when stored away in the ceiling. Lounges all have inward-facing sofas, with a bench that swivels to create extra travel seats.

Kitchens can be customised in many ways. The hob offers two gas burners and one induction hotplate as standard and there is lots of drawer storage. Some of this can be replaced with a low-level oven and/or dishwasher. The drawers have flexible inserts to allow you to adapt the storage and securely hold your kitchenalia in place. Another option sees a 12V extractor hood rising from within the kitchen units behind the hob.

Opposite the kitchen, you’ll find a 171-litre fridge with space for an optional microwave above and a wardrobe adjacent. This is all invisible behind wooden doors, creating very clean lines.

The wardrobe itself has two hanging rails separated by a drawer, but the lower rail can be replaced by further drawers. Alternatively, by moving the fridge to the kitchen block (with a cooling drawer) this could be made into a wardrobe space, with a customisable combination of shelves, rails and drawers.

Washrooms have been changed, too, with a concrete-effect shower wall, illuminated rain shower with flush floor and a recessed shelf for toiletries. The smoked glass sliding door has a towel rail and the floor is a mineral composite. There is a glass partition between the basin area and the bedroom – look for the optional extra that turns this panel opaque at the touch of a button. There is also a smoked glass door between the washroom and living area, which has a push-to-open mechanism and is soft close.

At the very back, the bedrooms have a quilted synthetic leather headboard, with three colour choices (black, petrol or olive green). The bed access is low with a wide step and there are smart phone docks.

The devil is in the detail

There are numerous other clever features, too. Stepping on board, the door opens electrically, but is controlled by sensors so it doesn’t collide with the adjacent side locker door if open. If you specify the multimedia pack, surround speakers are integrated into the wall lights, while the 32in TV rises electrically from its hiding place. There’s a laundry compartment in the bedroom that can be removed through the garage, while beds get Froli springs and cold foam mattresses.

Acoustic felt lines the walls for a better interior sound, and an anthracite microfibre lines the ceiling and skylight frames.

Electrics are controlled by real glass switches and there’s a 100Ah lithium battery as standard (there’s space for up to six of these) along with a 370-litre fresh water tank, 250-litre waste tank and the new Alde 3030 offers a two-zone domestic-style central heating system. There’s also a modern water filter system using UV light. Double floors hide all the technical stuff as well as containing extra storage.

Motion sensors control corridor lights at night, and storage illumination (garage, living area and more) is automatic when the doors or flaps are opened.

Based on the Iveco Daily, Niesmann+Bischoff makes a big deal out of the fact that this is the only liner-class motorhome with airbags and you also get ESP, belt tensioners and a pedal release system which folds the pedals out of the way in the event of an impact.

The optional Flair Safety Pack comes with Emergency Brake Assist, Distance Control with Congestion Assistant, Active Lane Departure Warning system with acoustic signal, active TPMS, Traction Plus with Hill Descent Control and rain-sensing wipers and automatic low beam.

There are two single bed models in two lengths (8.87m and 9.27m), both on the Iveco Daily 70 C 18 with Euro VI-E engines.

Prices start at £192,400 for the 880 and £194,200 for the 920 including VAT but excluding customs duty. Just be prepared to want to tick some of those cool options and we reckon you'll easily get the final price to well over £250k.

You can order now – in fact, the order book has already seen its first customer, which we are reliably informed was from the UK.
