The trial will run from 1 April to 30 November, with the council aiming to promote safe, well-managed overnight options while boosting the local economy.
Self-contained campervans and motorhomes will be able to stay overnight from 6pm to 7am, with a maximum stay of one night, for £7. Payments will be made via the PayByPhone parking app.
“This pilot is about finding a balance between welcoming visitors and respecting local communities. Burghead provides a good location to test how a managed overnight stay scheme works in practice.
“The trial will allow us to gather real-world evidence and listen carefully to feedback before any decisions are taken about next steps. We hope everyone who visits Burghead, and the wider area, enjoys its beauty and treats it with the respect it deserves.”
Burghead was chosen to lead the scheme due to strong local support and the availability of nearby waste disposal facilities at Burghead Harbour.
