Moray Council Approves Pilot for Overnight Stopovers
Moray Council has approved a pilot scheme for motorhome stopovers, which is planned to start in spring 2026.
In February Moray Council agreed to held a public consultation on the provision of motorhome stopovers in its area and the results are in. Out of 2,216 responses, 74% or residents agreed they supported a scheme with positives and negatives suggested. 95% of non Moray residents were in support of the scheme. The paper also recommended to run a trial in 2026.
A location in Burghead was proposed as sole stopover for the pilot. It was also suggested a second location at Aberlour be trialled at the same time, but this will need to be investigated and the results presented in a meeting of the Economic Development and Infrastructure Services committee in March 2026.
We expect the pilot scheme to run from April to November 2026, but the exact details will be confirmed closer to the start of the scheme in spring.
