From pioneering fixed bed motorhomes to becoming the UK’s only Swift Super Centre, Lowdhams continues to shape the motorhome market.
However, it wasn’t until 1996 that the company first began selling motorhomes. Group Managing Director, Steve Sharpe, joined the business via a YOPS (Youth Opportunities) scheme, initially working in the accessories shop. It was Steve who later became the driving force behind importing Laika low-profile motorhomes to the UK.

Steve Sharpe says
Everybody queued up to tell me: ‘Why would the British want a fixed bed?’ But, the Laika Ecovip 1R won Motorhome of the Year, and we sold them for fun. It was our Eureka moment.
Today, the dealership offers a range of special edition versions of top-selling Swift models, Hi-Style Xtra and Voyager Xtra motorhomes, making it the first and only Swift Super Centre in the UK, as well as Chausson, Dethleffs, Eriba, Hymer, Malibu, Sunlight.
Lowdhams also provides its own two-year, unlimited mileage warranty on pre-owned sales, covering unlimited claims up to the value of the vehicle, supported by a nationwide repairs network and no excess on all claims.
Paul McCreadie, Director of Aftersales, explains,
We operate over three sites with a PDI centre including a Fiat Professional workshop, a body shop and a caravan/motorhome workshop.
Overall, we have 30 workshop bays across these three sites, employing 23 technicians and three workshop controllers/managers.”
Lowdhams, with its impressive 26-acre site, boasts extensive workshop facilities, overnight camping for customers, and both indoor and outdoor vehicle displays, alongside a cafeteria and additional on-site amenities.
The scale of the site allows customers to browse at leisure, whether viewing new models, pre-owned stock or attending servicing appointments.
