Globecar reveals 2016 range and prices

69677eb1-97b0-4bde-97e1-30dc235f6ee8

There will be no increase in prices for 2016, while the official Gloebcar UK agent, SMC of Newark, says buyers will be treated to two specification packs worth almost £5,000 for free for a limited period.

There is just one significant new model for 2016 – a sub-6m version of its 600-L called the Globestar 600-L Edition. This compact campervan (5.998m L x 2.05m W x 2.58m H) is aimed at those looking for the comfort of fixed beds in a van that is shorter than the 6m benchmark. It will be priced at £40,995.

As such it comes with twin longitudinal beds, which can be converted into a large double. Up front there is a small half dinette, which, along with the swivel cab seats means there is seating for four people. There’s a central washroom with shower that separates the living from the sleeping area.

The front dinette and table can also be converted into a third bed (yes we did try it) and, although it’s only large enough to sleep one adult, it is surprisingly comfortable.

This third bed (left) is a £300 but is included in a special pack for a limited period.

The model also comes in a Revolution (pictured below) version, which includes an electric double bed at the rear and costs £1,000 more at £41,995.

For 2016, all models will have the same base price but will include an ‘All-in Pack’ worth £2,660 that includes cab air-con, driver and passenger air bags, matching cab upholstery, 80l fridge in place of 60l (layout permitting).

Better still for the October NEC show, Globecars will also come with a free UK Pack, which includes cruise control, upgraded Truma heating, metallic paint, colour-coded front bumper, wheel trims and the alternate table and bed, which is estimated to be worth a further £2,300.

Other changes to the Globecar range include the replacement of the ‘Style’ range with the ‘Limited’ range.

Across-the-range changes for 2016 include different upholstery and fabrics, higher quality wood finish to the cabinets and chrome-effect higher quality catches for the cabinets and cupboards. In addition, some of the models now come with flush-fit windows.

All of the Globecar range are available with a rising roof as an option except for the shortest 5.6m models.

All British models will also be available with a combination Thetford oven/grill under the sink, which means the loss of some kitchen storage.
