German motorhome manufacturer, Frankia, enhances models for coming season
Frankia, the German manufacturer of premium coachbuilt motorhomes, has revised and enhanced its line up for the 2018 season
Although it includes both overcab and low-profile models in its all-coachbuilt motorhome line-up, Frankia in the UK is all about the firm's A-class motorhomes.
Frankia's 2018 season sees little that’s totally new, mainly more in the way of enhanced kit and refinement of models and their layouts.
Two new floorplans are added to the Ducato-based F-Line range – the result, a rear lounge layout in every length apart from the shortest.
The range-topping, Mercedes Sprinter-based Platin offers island and single-bed designs in two different lengths and in common with its M-line brethren, gets a host of detail and styling changes.
There's now a totally flat roofline outside and front-to-back flat floor inside – no steps up or down as there were before.
Styling changes see a new nose outside and LED lamps for the headlights' main beam. The Sprinter chassis is notorious for having a compliant ride – comfortable, but at the cost of handling. Frankia's new solution to help improve stability, is the option of special alloy wheels that increase the track width front and rear.
Detail changes include increased water capacity – to an impressive 270 litres – and service box with adaptor drawer and pull-out, self-retracting hookup lead.
Latest design ideas include a separate, removable drinking water tank, that’s easy to keep clean. A capacity-increasing toilet system that can pump waste into a large holding tank from the cassette when it’s full. The tank is emptied if there’s a bulk dump point available, if not the cassette can be manually emptied in the normal way. This gives the advantage of a bulk black water system and the convenience of an easy-to-empty cassette
New for 2018, the Titan takes a slightly stripped back version of the Platin's standard kit and applies it to 10 models from the Ducato-based F-Line range. The Titan comes in 10 versions – single and island bed layouts – and includes no less than four models with comfortable, wrap-around rear lounges.
The UK has only one Frankia dealer and that’s SMC Leisure of Newark in Nottinghamshire. SMC’s spokesman said: “We are proud to be involved with Frankia’s great line-up for 2018. With the addition of models with UK-friendly, rear lounge layouts and the technical and cosmetic changes to the flagship Mercedes-based Platin, we predict a fantastic year for UK sales.”
