France votes to remove low-emisson zones

The French Government has recently voted to get rid of the low-emission zones
MEPs (Members of European Parliament) have voted to abolish low-emission zones in France. Low-emission zones (ZFE) have been in effect in France since 2019.

The zones were extended in in 2021 by the Climate and Resilience law which prohibits or limits access for the most polluting vehicles in several large cities, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Grenoble.
The latest vote is part of a wider ‘economic simplification bill’ by the National Assembly which includes a decision to simplify payslips and improve attention given towards small businesses.
What does this mean for motorhomers?
Primarily, if the abolishment goes through it could potentially mean there is no longer a need for a Crit’Air sticker on your motorhome or campervan. Currently, Crit’Air stickers correspond to the vehicle's emissions level should they wish to enter many French cities and urban areas.
There is currently not a date or further development on when the abolishment would be set for. While this law proposal has been passed, there is still some work to put this law into effect, so motorhomers travelling to France should still apply for a Crit'Air sticker for the foreseeable future.
