Explore Elddis' adventure-ready campervan: the Autoquest CV80

6d9b8d14-74f6-4f8b-82ad-47ff39f32a5a

An adventure-ready campervan that’s as at home travelling fells and coasts as it is on family-friendly campsites, the CV80 from British manufacturer Elddis is a popular option for active couples and families

It’s easy to see why, too – with a pop-top roof, two lounges and a proper rooflight, there’s an open design that feels spacious and comfortable, with the rear doors fully opening to help you to feel immersed in the great outdoors.

Words by Rachel Scholes

It’s a 6m-long campervan with two lounges, like the CV40 model in Elddis' campervan line-up. The big difference here, though, is on the roof. It’s a pop-top, specially designed for the Erwin Hymer Group (Elddis’ parent company) to create a large double bed (2.10m by 1.44m) on a slatted base. When raised, it creates enough headroom to sleep with your head to the rear, which makes access in and out much easier that having to spin yourself around to descend the ladder.

However, there’s also a proper rooflight to the front of this roof, which allows lovely amounts of light into the forward lounge area below.

And why is this all so important? Well, that roof makes an instantly available bed for the kids (at 7ft long by 4ft 8in wide, it could even accommodate grown-up kids), while parents can retire to the rear lounge for some chill-out time after a long day of adventures. This also means the front lounge remains just that, offering an extra seating area, when both the roof bed and the rear lounge bed are deployed.

The rear lounge makes a double bed, really easily thanks to a simple pull-together system on the seat bases. It’s a tad over 6ft long and 4ft 1in wide. The USP of the rear lounge campervan is all about those rear doors, which, on nice days, you can simply swing open for floor-to-ceiling views of your surroundings.

The kitchen doesn’t disappoint, either; a three-burner gas hob has plenty of space for good-sized pans, while an oven/grill below further extends the culinary possibilities – even if that just stretches to beans on toast and pizza. Another great feature is a fridge set higher – much easier for rooting about looking for the cheese slices.

The washroom may be a compact space, but the all-in-one affair is both fuss free and modern. A countertop basin is set one one side of a section of worktop that's perfect for your daily essentials while abluting. However, take a look at the tap mounted on the wall. This can be pulled out to create the showerhead.

Mirror-doored cupboards above provide storage and a window offers ventilation. Standard models come with a white exterior, contrasting with the black pop-top, but you can upgrade to the grey metallic paint as an option.
