DFDS Seaways ferry crossing from Portsmouth to Le Havre set to close
If you are a regular visitor to the heart of Normandy, taking your motorhome across on the ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre with DFDS Seaways, then you’ll need to start looking for an alternative. The DFDS website is taking bookings up until the end of 2014, after which it won’t accept them. The reason is because DFDS is closing the route. A spokesperson for DFDS Seaways commented, “It is with deep regret that I must inform you our intention to close the Le Havre–Portsmouth freight and passenger route. This hasn’t been an easy conclusion, but unfortunately one that is inevitable. Therefore our intention is to close the route towards the end of the year. Our reservations are open until the 31st December 2014.” Travellers are now being pointed in the direction of the Newhaven to Dieppe crossing as an alternative.
