Devon Conversions heads into spring with the Mayflower

Mayflower sets sail on a XLWB Transit

The latest addition to the range of Ford Transit conversions from Devon, is the Mayflower, based on the extra long wheelbase Transit. The rear-wheel drive Mayflower has a similar layout to the Devon Sapphire with a large ‘U’ shaped lounge in the rear that makes into either a large double bed or two singles. In the middle of the ‘van is a shower/toilet with fixed hand basin and vanity unit. Opposite this is the kitchen which is fully equipped with large three way fridge, three burner hob, oven and grille.

In the front there is a dinette comprised of a belted travelling seat and both swivelled cab seats. This can also be made up into a single bed. The heating and hot water are from a Truma Combi, which also heats the shower, that works from either gas or mains electric. The gas is supplied from a 30-litre underfloor gas tank and there is a 84-litre fresh water tank and 40-litre waste tank, both also under the floor.























The Mayflower measures 6.7m and is 2.1m wide, being powered by a Ford 2.2TDi, 125bhp engine. Gross vehicle weight is 3,500kg giving a payload of 490kh. It has cab air-con, driver and passenger airbags, allow wheels, cruise control, parking sensors and rear view camera system, heated windscreen, automatic headlights and wipers and a trip computer. Price is £49,995 plus on the road costs.
