Updates to the T457
For the coming season, German manufacturer, Carado, is introducing a new floorplan to its low-profile motorhome range, the T457. In addition, a trio of new models have been announced for the 2024 range to bolster Carado's low-profile range
The 7.39m-long profile of the T457 offers a very en vogue seating area with twin inwards-facing sofas – also known as the face-to-face lounge.
This is only Carado’s second model to offer this, joining the T459. However, instead of an island bed in the T459, the T457 gives you twin single beds at the rear above a large storage area.
You can still travel and sleep four – with the sofas converting into two belted travel seats along with an optional drop-down double bed above the lounge. The table folds to improve access through the motorhome.
Between lounge and bedroom, you’ll find the washroom, with a shower on the opposite side to the toilet area. A sliding door shuts off this area from the bedroom, while the toilet door swings over for privacy from the rest of the motorhome, features that are particularly important with four on board. The foot of each bed is angled inward slightly to create more floorspace, too.
The kitchen gets a two-burner hob and 98-litre fridge and there are five mains sockets and four USBs to charge devices.
The T457 will be priced from £64,890 with two packages available – the Pro package costs £2,220 (cab blinds, rooflight in the cab, 156-litre fridge, insulated waste tank), and the Pro+ package is £4,410 (features of the Pro Pack, plus grey metallic cab, 16in alloys, awning, TV, and framed windows).

All three of Carado's new special edition range are based on the 130bhp Ford Transit (although the T447 is also available on the Fiat Ducato), with the highlight of them, the T447, coming in at 7.36m long and with an appealing twin rear single bed layout.
Forward of the twin beds, both of which are over 2m long, is a central shower and washroom, featuring two doors allowing an en suite to be created. Moving forwards, there is the well-specified kitchen with circular sink and three-burner hob opposite a large 156-litre fridge/freezer.
At the front is a half-dinette with table and a side-facing single seat complemented by the two swivel cab seats. There is an option for a drop-down double bed (1.95m by 1.40m) above the lounge and a further optional single bed can be made from the lounge. For this season, the overhead lockers in the living area have around 25% more volume and storage.
The design has also been optimised in the bedroom with sloping twin beds that Carado says offer more space and freedom of movement. In addition, the shelves either side of the twin beds, called swallow’s nests, are now semi-enclosed.
As befitting a special edition model, the T447 Edition24 comes with extras such as 16in alloys and Carado’s Chassis Package as standard, as well as the Basic Package, a blackout blind, Carado’s new grey living environment, an insulated waste water tank, awning, TV Package, framed windows and other extras, such as double access doors to the garage. There is also an option to upgrade to the 155bhp engine, automatic gearbox and add a bicycle rack, wooden shower grate, cable preparation for solar panels and electric underfloor heating.

This latest campervan from Carado features the Pro moniker, which means additional base vehicle (in this case a Fiat Ducato) and habitation equipment is fitted as standard, such as 16in alloys, white bumpers (to match the white bodywork), folding cab blinds, awning, electric mirrors, LED lights, etc. There are also exclusive Pro graphics on this new compact CV540 Pro, which is just 5.4m long, featuring one of the most popular campervan layouts to be found in a Ducato (thanks to greater internal space than many of its rivals), a rear transverse double bed (1.95m by 1.33m) above a useful storage area.
Forward of this is a washroom with shower, WC and sink, and, opposite, is a galley kitchen with a two-burner gas hob and sink above soft-close drawers, and an 84-litre fridge. At the front is the half-dinette (with two Isofix child seat fittings), which faces a fitted table, and the twin swivel cab seats. There is an option to have a third berth in the lounge, which provides a single bed (1.85m by 0.87m max).

Carado’s two-berth Fiat Ducato-based T459 is a 7.39m-long low-profile with a fixed rear island bed above a large garage with access doors on either side, one of which is large enough (1.05m by 0.90m) to load bikes. Inside, at the head of the 1.95m by 1.50m island bed there are his ’n’ hers wardrobes on either side, while at the base of the bed is an en suite with Carado’s newly designed washroom and cassette toilet on one side and a separate shower area on the other.
Step into the front area and the kitchen has a worktop with inset circular sink and three-burner hob above storage and, opposite, a 98-litre fridge/freezer as standard (a 156-litre model is optional). At the front, the lounge features twin side-facing sofas with a large, adjustable table between and twin captain’s swivel seats in the cab. There is an option to make this a five-berth by adding a drop-down double bed (1.95m by 1.40m), and a further bed made up from the lounge itself (2.10m by 0.93m).
