The UK’s first launch of CAMpRA's new motorhome service bollard marks a small but meaningful step towards better infrastructure for touring enthusiasts at home. This all-in-one service point gives motorhomers everything they need to stay on the road with less.

What makes the bollard user-friendly is how it’s operated: you can use a card, a code, or a fob, so it’s flexible enough for fully managed sites as well as semi-managed or self-service spots.

Most importantly for many travellers, the bollards are designed to be available year-round, not tucked away as a seasonal feature. That means campers don’t need to worry about pulling up in winter or early spring, when some facilities traditionally shut down.

Ian Pedley, Director of CAMpRA said

It is CAMpRA’s mission to create a system of French-style aires and service points for the UK. Sited in council car parks, supermarkets, campsites, motorhome dealers, filling stations and more.

Instead of being confined to campsites, these service bollards can be sited in all sorts of everyday places: council car parks, supermarkets, campsites, motorhome dealers, filling stations and more.

The idea is to make motorhome facilities more visible and more accessible, without turning up the disruption or cost for the host site.

Physically, each bollard comes as a pre-prepared base ready for hook-up.

For councils, campsite owners or commercial operators looking to add motorhome services to their site, that simplicity is a real plus, it avoids big groundwork and keeps installation quick and tidy.

CAMpRA itself is a dedicated campaign group focused on driving forward a national network of aires and service points in the UK, something many British motorhomes have been calling for.

The group hopes that better, more widespread services will not only support existing touring communities but also grow motorhome tourism broadly.
