Brownhills acquires Westcroft
The move brings Brownhills' site count up to seven, and adds a further 10 brands to their stock portfolio.
Westcroft currently retails five American brands: Damon, Lexington, Four Winds, Thor, Mandaley and Forest River, and imports European brands including Karmann, La Strada and Eura Mobil.
The Cannock site is adjacent to Brownhills' own site in Cannock, and occupies an area of over two acres, with further potential for development. Mel Durkin and Steve Ruston, current owners of the Westcroft site, will remain in the business, assisting Michael Lowe, Managing Director of Brownhills Cannock, to integrate the two businesses.
Speaking about the acquisition, Michael Lowe said: "The Westcroft Company is widely regarded as the UK's largest and best American motorhome dealership and will fit in extremely well to our existing portfolio. It is expected that the two neighbouring sites will merge to form one motorhome 'supercentre', offering customers a dedicated state-of-the-art showroom with first rate facilities".
Nick Page, Brownhills Chief Executive, who took over the helm last year, said that the focus is very much on integration: "This time last year we had three operations and as I am sure you will appreciate there now needs to be a period of consolidation where we integrate the new operations and get them to perform at the same level as our core business. With the enlarged group 2006 will be an extremely exciting year for us".
