Why the Bailey Endeavour B62?
This is Bailey’s long-awaited, first-ever campervan. It adopts the classic, and perenially popular, two-berth, rear lounge layout to appeal to a mass-market audience.
But, while almost every mainstream rival is based on a Sevel van (Fiat Ducato or Peugeot Boxer), the Endeavour is based on a Ford Transit. That gives it the advantage of a smoother, more comfortable ride and a better, more car-like, driving position.
This isn’t just any Transit, but the tallest (H3) version, chosen to give excellent interior headroom of almost 2m as well as a raised floor that ensures a step-free walk-through from the cab to the back doors. The 155bhp engine, automatic transmission and 12in touchscreen are all standard equipment, too, and the Endeavour comes with alloy wheels and metallic paint.
Another feature is the overcab sunroof, while even the roll-out awning and 100W solar panel are included in the £69,999 price tag.

A look inside
The rear barn doors open onto a comfortable rear lounge that can be arranged as side settees or a cosy U-shape. Underneath the offside sofa, you’ll find the diesel Truma Combi boiler but there’s still plenty of under-seat storage and these lockers are extra-deep as well as being accessible from doors in the ends of the sofas.
At night, you can convert the lounge into either single beds or a large double. Either way, you sleep lengthways, so access is easy, and countoured panels on the side walls ensure that every centimetre of space is used to the full.
Up front, the washroom could have been compromised by the Ford’s narrower internal dimensions, but a clever tambour door system makes the bathroom shrink in size when it’s not in use. With a well-equipped kitchen, great lounge, good storage and the comprehensive standard spec, plus availability through a large nationwide network of dealers, the Endeavour B62’s success is assured.

Hillside Hopton
If you want a campervan based on a MAN TGE, there are now plenty of options on the market, but for most you’ll need deep pockets.
So, for those who aren’t prepared to compromise on driving dynamics and cab ergonomics (with a cheaper chassis), but who aren’t minted, the Hillside Hopton looks like an excellent choice, especially as it has just been updated for the 2024 season. Even better, you can buy an automatic version with a few extras for under £80,000.
Importantly, the Hopton has European Whole Vehicle Type Approval is also NCC approved, so safety and quality are assured.

Globe-Traveller Falcon 2XS
One-of-a-kind layouts are all too few in the campervan world, but the Falcon 2XS is like nothing else currently on the market. It comes from Polish converter, Globe-Traveller, whose Fiat-based Voyager Z won Campervan of the Year title in 2023.
The Falcon adopts the more sophisticated Volkswagen base vehicle and has a fresh design that provides more living space.
Inside, the generous headroom of the extra-high roof, the double floor for proper winterisation and the superb build quality are all things we expect from this marque. The long sofa which quickly makes into a double bed, the option of a completely gas-free version and the composting toilet are new.
