Adria motorhomes: the 2007 line-up

eb56c3cc-c7ce-43b6-a29d-066954fc043b
ADRIA deliver motorhomes as far afield as Scandinavia and Australia, but the UK market is important too – and the 2007 range is the biggest ever offered here.

The launch of the 2007 range took place at a spa complex in the south of Slovenia. The new motorhomes were arranged around a field next to the main thermal swimming pool – quite a distraction – but ’vans this good just demanded attention and the pool had to wait. First stop was the new van conversion range.

Van conversions
The 3-Way now debuts with a proper UK-handed layout. Based on the latest Renault Trafic, the 3-Way sports the classic VW-camper-style layout with a forward-facing rear bench seat, side kitchen, and swivel cab seats.

The cab offers all the luxuries you’d expect of a modern leisure vehicle – central locking, electric windows, ABS and a driver’s airbag and with a drop-down double bed in the roof, the 3-Way could be used by a young family without feeling too cramped.

But the star of Adria’s van conversion line-up is the new Twin. Based on the latest Fiat Ducato, the Twin offers a large one-piece permanent double bed, plus a good-sized living area, excellent bathroom and adequate kitchen. The old Twin was a best-seller, so the new one – with more space as the Ducato has grown bigger – should go down a storm.

The clever new feature of the Twin is the rear transverse bed that folds up during the day and attaches to the ceiling to create a walk-through living space. This means you’ve got an instant double bed on site, but can slot bicycles and the like inside when travelling.

Up front there’s the usual half-dinette/swivel cab seat arrangement, with a simple kitchen on the nearside, and a good-sized toilet and shower cubicle on the offside. But the best feature of all is a sub-£30,000 price tag.

If you need a four-berth version, there’s the broadly similar Adria Space, which adds a drop-down roof bed and an extra-high roof to give adequate ‘upstairs’ headroom, but this model is available only in left-hand-drive form.

Series 70 range

With the popular Coral coachbuilts going upmarket, Adria have introduced a new entry-level Series 70 range to compete in the £30,000 to £35,000 sector. The Series 70s offer gas and electric space and water heating, domestic-style fixed-bed mattresses, radio/CD and the latest Fiat cab, with a starting price of just £29,900.

Two low-profiles and two overcab coachbuilt models will be offered, sporting four different floorplans. Three of these feature front pullman dinettes, while the smallest – the S574 SP low-profile – uses the cab seats and a half-dinette for lounging. The S574 SP also has a rear permanent double bed and a separate shower in its bathroom alongside. The other low-profile – the longer S574 DS – differs mainly in its seating area, which enables it to offer four berths.

The two overcab models in the Series 70 line-up are also closely related to each other. Their front dinettes are mated to central kitchens, washrooms are sited behind the seating areas and beds go across the rear. The difference is that the A576 DK is a family ’van with rear bunks, while the A660 DPE has a double bed over a garage.

Izola range

The only range that has not been totally changed for the 2007 season is the now-familiar Izola – whose four ’vans are all based on the Renault Master. However, only two of the existing floorplans have survived – the overcab A697 SL, with its fixed single beds, and the low-profile S687 SP, with its typical European fixed bed design.

New to the UK are the overcab A697 SG and the low-profile S687 SPG. The A697 SG has a rear double bed over a garage, an L-shaped nearside kitchen, offside bathroom with separate shower and front lounge with side settee and half-dinette, while the S687 SPG is a low-profile interpretation of the garage theme but with the bathroom and (straight) kitchen in reversed locations.

Coral range

In terms of exterior styling, the biggest shock comes in the form of the seven-model Coral range. A completely new body – 80mm wider than the previous generation – has been fitted on the new Fiat chassis. Everything is new – the overcab moulding, the interior furniture, the Thermo double-floors, and the graphics.

There’s even a new entry door, as well as different interior lighting. A grill or oven is offered in all models, and the 100-litre fresh water tank is joined by a 90-litre heated waste tank on most models. In fact, little other than their windows and awning lights have stayed the same.

Some floorplans have changed little from the old Coral, but these have been joined by a number of completely new layouts that haven’t been seen in the Adria range anywhere in Europe before. The A640 SK is a new family-biased ’van with rear bunk beds and two front doubles. The similarly six-berth S680 SPL has a rear over-garage double instead of the bunks, but still only four travel seats. This low-profile model also has a real surprise – an electric drop-down A-class-style bed above the cab.

Then there’s a four-berth low-profile offering, the S680 SP. With its great L-shaped kitchen and popular European-style front lounge, this model is the same as the S680 SPL, but dropping the ‘L’ means losing the roof bed.

Extended families will prefer the A690 DK, with its seven berths and sufficent seatbelts to match. And if all that wasn’t enough to tempt you to buy a new Coral, the forthcoming special edition versions with coloured cabs – to be shown at the NEC – could just add the icing on the cake.

Vision range

Adria’s biggest success story last year – certainly as far as awards and reviews were concerned – was their first A-class, the Vision I707 SG. Its classy interior, with dark wood and modern lines, proved a winner with press and customers alike, so to build on this success they have now introduced the I677 SP. It will offer a rear lengthways permanent bed floorplan, with a good-sized L-shape kitchen and the familiar half-dinette and side settee seating. This could be one of the stars of the new Birmingham motorcaravan show in October.

Slovenia joins the Euro early next year and the country – as well as companies like Adria – is on the up. And with such a wide-ranging line-up for 2007, the Adria brand is going to be a much more familiar sight on our sites.
