World's smallest caravan?
Designed as a promotional tool to be towed by a mobility scooter, with a more recently developed pedal bike hitch, the caravan measures in at 200x75cm and is powered by a 240V hook-up and on-board battery, meaning that if the electricity used to charge the mobility scooter is bought from a sustainable source, the QTvan is entirely carbon neutral. Entertainment and amenities inside include a full-sized bed, 19in colour TV, radio, alarm clock, book shelves, kettle and drinks cabinet, with a few optional extras to boot.
“As you can imagine, there isn’t much legislation relating to mobility scooter caravans,” explains ETA spokesperson Yannick Read. “In other words, the caravan can be used wherever a mobility scooter rider might go. It’s narrow enough to fit comfortably on most pavements and we’ve even taken it around a supermarket.
“We’ve had an overwhelmingly positive reaction. It’s wonderful to have produced something that makes people of all ages smile.”
Although, if you’re looking to head away on a break, allow a bit more travelling time than usual. A trip from London to the New Forest would take two days, while a journey to Whitby would take a full week!
