Protect your water pump

A NEW product that promises to prevent damage to your caravan water pump has been created by amateur inventor Bob Renshaw.

Semi-retired Mr Renshaw, an electrical engineer, created the Pump Saver device after his own water pump was damaged, having been left to run dry. His new invention means the water pump will automatically shut off after a set length of time, making it impossible to leave your water pump running.

“I designed it some years ago when I had a van where the pump was tucked away, and you wouldn’t know that you’d left it on until your battery had gone flat,” explained Bob.

“You can’t see the damage until your water pump fails,” he continued. “But if you leave it running when there is no water in the tank, the seals become damaged, and the whole pump will eventually fail.”

The small unit, which is installed close to the water inlet on the inside of the van, can be set   between one and 11 minutes, shutting off the pump after the set time. The pump saver costs £18 and is available from the Pump Saver website http://freespace.virgin.net/ bob.ren55, or by calling direct on 01296 688305.
