New concept caravan from Swift

At the NEC show we were lucky enough to be shown around a brand-new concept caravan that isn’t available in the UK market yet, but, with its tech, it was a very interesting find.

Based on the adventure-style Basecamp models, the new Basecamp Evo features 920W solar panels along its roof and two lithium batteries and a converter so it can store that energy. This totally electric caravan means you can truly go off-grid once it has fully charged itself. What’s more, features like cookers have been dropped and instead an air fryer added.

There is a rainwater harvesting system that saves 0.5 litres of drinking water per toilet flush, PET panel construction contains insulation from 1,750 recycled plastic bottles and even the cushion fillers are made from recycled plastic bottles.

This amazing creation is the baby of Tom Buckley, Sustainability Manager at Swift, who said,

The mission with the Basecamp Evo was to create a bold, all-electric caravan with sustainability engrained within the design. As someone that lives and breathes sustainability, it has been a real passion project for me and it was amazing to see such a hive of activity around it at the NEC show! This vehicle is just the starting point for Swift on our journey to net zero and extending our offering to a range of more sustainable, environmentally friendly leisure vehicles.

Read more in our February issue, when we will dive into the tech and see how it may influence the caravans of the future.
