Britain’s 30 million driving licence holders have the chance to give their skills an ‘MoT’ through a new initiative launched by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).DriveCheck is an hour-long assessment, conducted by trained observers from the IAM’s 200-plus groups, introduced as part of the organisation’s 50th anniversary. The fee in this special year is £25 (rising to £35), but there are 2000 free places available.
IAM statistics reveal that seven out of ten older drivers would welcome refresher courses to include a brush-up on motorway driving, while six out of ten would value tips on driving along unlit roads at night and negotiating junctions.
Visit the IAM’s web site at www.iam.org.uk
or call 020-8996 9600.
