Holgates Silverdale celebrates 60 years under current ownership

South Lakeland MP Tim Farron got the ball rolling on anniversary celebrations at Holgates Silverdale Park near Arnside in Cumbria.

The park was marking its 60th birthday under the ownership of the Holgate family.

The leader of the Liberal Democrats launched the event by rolling the first official ball at the park's new high-tech bowling alley, part of a £1m makeover.

Spread across 100 acres, the park first began welcoming visitors in 1956. Mr Farron praised the extensive leisure developments at the park, including its pool, gymnasium and spa, which he said were enjoyed both by holiday guests and members of the local community.

The park's up-to-the-minute facilities, he continued, showed how the business had continually innovated over the years to meet modern customer expectations.

The Holgates’ business currently comprises six parks in Cumbria and North Lancashire.
