Driver training centre opens in Scotland for caravan owners

The Caravan and Motorhome Club has announced the addition of a brand-new training partner to its UK network – Alan Brown Driver Training in Grangemouth, Scotland. 

With over 40 years of experience running training courses, which over 56,000 people have attended, the Caravan and Motorhome Club now operates at 17 locations across the UK, with each course led by expert trainers with first-hand experience.

The new training site is set to welcome learners from 21 June, 2025.

Expert driving training

Alan Brown Driver Training, located in Kersiebank Avenue, Grangemouth, will offer courses in caravan manoeuvring and practical caravanning, a course designed to help drivers gain confidence, improve safety and polish their skills. 

The courses are open to all experience levels and are ideal not just for tourers, but for anyone towing trailers, boats or horseboxes.

Courses are led by expert instructors and cover everything from reversing and hitching to safety checks and loading best practices. 

  • Prices start from £188 and participants receive a free copy of the Club’s Essential Guide to Touring
  • Completing a course can also unlock 5% savings on Club caravan and motorhome insurance

The training courses are split into: 

  • Practical Caravanning
  • Caravan Manoeuvring

The manoeuvring course takes a full day, whilst the practical caravanning course (for those who are completely new to caravanning) is split over one and a half days.

Sessions include:

  • Manoeuvring advice
  • Hitching and towing safely
  • Straightforward safety checks
  • Understanding the laws that affect caravanning
  • Reversing and driving skills
  • Understanding loading and how it impacts towing

The courses are priced as follows:

  • Practical Caravanning course - £218
  • Caravan Manoeuvring course - £188
