Discover Buccaneer’s premium 2025 caravan range
Five opulent twin-axle tourers, eight feet wide and more than eight metres long, with underfloor heating and a self-levelling system.
Leaders of the caravan world in luxury
Buccaneers have always been high up among the leaders of the caravan world in terms of luxury. They’re the flagship of the Erwin Hymer Group, which manufactures in County Durham. Long before the emergence of the standard of luxury that we see today, Buccaneers were leading the field from a small manufacturing base in Full Sutton, North Yorkshire; the brand became established in the 1960s. Buccaneer became part of Elddis in 1998 and both became components of the Erwin Hymer Group in 2017.
Today’s Buccaneer range offers four four-berths and a six-berth. They sit in the top sector of tourer spec and price, ranging from £45,699 to £46,999.
The range’s standout spec features include a remote-controlled self-levelling system, and underfloor heating that works together with the Alde heating system.
The self-levelling system is an impressive piece of technology that automatically levels the caravan at a touch of a handset button and involves two giant axle stands to level the caravan laterally and four powered corner steadies that lower to level the caravan from front to back. It takes just two minutes.
Specific luxury touches inside include lighting streaming down from under the edges of the kitchen; bright downlighter spotlights; deep knee rolls and six cushions, all adding to the general feel of sophistication and supreme comfort.
Equipment includes a 40-litre on-board water tank, and the Alde Load Monitor that automatically turns off the heating when you use the microwave or other high-demand appliance, to prevent the circuit breaker from tripping. There’s a wireless charger with two USB ports; pocket-sprung mattress construction; an extractor fan – and a lovely large (1.4m by 44cm) rooflight. A 100W solar panel is standard, too, as is an alarm system and Al-Ko’s towing stability control system, ATC.
The combination of dark wood and pale cream cabinetry creates a sophisticated look. And buyers have the option to choose leather upholstery; it adds £2,541 to the cost. Other options include a WiFi system (£409); the router receives 3G/4G and creates a secure WiFi hotspot.
Cruiser
The Cruiser’s layout provides a rear shower room, a bed aligned across the caravan with the headboard on the nearside, and parallel lounge seating.
The pale cream upholstered headboard that reaches all of the way up to the over-bed lockers and the wide, full-length mirror adds to the boutique look of this bedroom.
And pull-out shelves, ideal for morning coffee mugs, above the drawers that are under each of the wardrobes, mix luxury with practicality.
In the shower room, a tall towel warmer, finished in smart black, keeps the luxury theme going in the Cruiser and all of the Buccaneer models – and, in the shower cubicle, a panel of rock-effect ‘tiles’ is very on-trend domestic in style.
As with all Buccaneers, the carpet is luxuriously long-pile; cosy under your feet and also adding to the sophisticated overall look.

Commodore
This model has its bedroom at the rear, totally separate from the rest of the caravan. The washing area is centrally located, with the shower on the nearside and the toilet-washbasin room opposite.
This layout means that, should you transform the lounge into a bed, those sleeping there can get to the wash area from the front of the caravan; when you close the sliding door that separates the wash area from the bedroom, everyone gets privacy.
A lovely versatile layout that appears in most manufacturers’ ranges; here executed with full luxury.

Bermuda
This model has an L-shaped lounge configuration; it quickly makes into a double bed by pulling forward the base of the sofa across the front.
On the nearside wall of the lounge is a media area, with connectivity, and a long shelf beneath that is stylishly illuminated from within.
The Bermuda has the same rear bedroom layout as the Commodore, with dressing tables in each of the offside corners, and the same shower-on-one-side, toilet-on-the-other arrangement.
The kitchen is on the nearside, with a hinged extension on the forward end. The fridge is opposite, with a cabinet and drawers alongside it.

Barracuda
Another L-shaped lounge – this time with the media wall on the offside. The kitchen is on the offside, too, with the fridge/freezer opposite.
Like the Bermuda and Commodore, the shower zone is amidships. And this time, the bedroom has its bedhead against the rear wall. Which layout to prefer?
It’s a close call. All excel as luxury caravans for two or four. And all have a captivating level of opulence in all areas.

Aruba
This is Buccaneer’s family caravan, with beds for six. There’s a fixed double bed in the nearside rear corner, plus another one to transform from the spacious offside four-person dining area.
And you can use the parallel lounge sofas as single beds or make a double bed here (the central section of the base pulls out from under the chest of drawers).
The shower room, alongside the bed, is very nearly as large as one you’d find across the rear of a caravan.
This arrangement of shower room alongside bed came into being with the arrival of the eight-feet-wide concept; it’s a layout that would not have been possible in a standard-width caravan.
