Caravan Guard team set to raise thousands of pounds for charity
The challenging 70 mile route stretches from Wetherby near Leeds in west Yorkshire to Filey on the North Yorkshire coast. Undertaken by both cycling enthusiasts and brave novices, the event is in its 29th year and over £2m has been raised for charity.
Managing director of Caravan Guard, Peter Wilby, has completed the charity ride for the last 20 years. He explains about the company's reasons for getting involved in the event.
"The Great Yorkshire Bike Ride raises money for a number of local and national charities including Heart Research UK and The Yorkshire Cancer Trust, and is something which we are very proud to be a part of," Peter says.
"It is a challenging ride to complete and, as such, we are hoping as many people as possible sponsor our team, many of whom are not regular cyclists. Our target is for the team to raise £100 for every mile, making £7000 our total target."
