Xploring your options for adventure
News
Three models, all under 1,400kg and under £26,000; one ideal for a young family, one designed for those seeking a fixed bed – and one that is just for two.
Affordable and lightweight
The Xplore brand has been a pillar of affordability and light weight since 2008. Throughout those 17 years of evolution – in some years, minor tweaks; in others major change – the Xplore range has maintained its appeal with fresh, bright accent colours, eye-catching graphics, and layouts with wide appeal.
Manufactured in Consett, Couty Durham, by the Erwin Hymer Group, the new Xplore launched for 2025 emerged as a standalone brand (Elddis and Buccaneer are the other EHG Group brands) – and with a distinctive character, clearly aimed at buyers with adventure on their caravanning agenda. And those whose adventures include cycling will be pleased to learn that 2025 Xplores all come with cycle racks for two bikes.
As with all previous Xplore ranges, there’s a touch of bright colour in the graphics – a sunny turquoise hue to convey the message that these are tourers to catch attention, and the design conveys a suggestion of contours on a map; a nod to the outdoor adventure theme of the range. There’s more bold colour inside; red, mustard and turquoise chevrons forming a pattern on the cushions – and turquoise buttons on the seatbacks.
Xplores offer three layout options. There’s a two-berth with an end kitchen and a weight of just 1,150kg MTPLM; that’s the XC Duo. There’s the XC Lite, with a cleverly designed layout that accommodates four and weights only 1,090kg MTPLM. And there’s the XC Quad, with a fixed bed. Now for the details…
All three models have 98-litre fridges, microwaves, mains hotplates plus two burners, combined oven/grills, Omnivent extractor fans, Al-Ko ATC stability control systems, alarm systems and trackers, and external barbecue points. They come complete with an Al-Ko Secure wheel lock, plus WiFi connectivity. So they are very well equipped for their price tags. The XC Duo and XC Lite have Whale’s 2KW heating system; the larger XC Quad has Whale’s 4KW system.
XC Duo
A compact caravan with some cleverly designed elements that achieve a lot in a short length.
One of those elements is that the wardrobe is placed above the fridge. And both the kitchen and the shower room are at the rear.
The kitchen extends forwards towards the door, in a slight L-shape, creating a surprising amount of surface and cabinet space for such a small caravan.
Forward of the door is another cabinet, in a dresser-style unit that houses the microwave above.
Space is impressive in the washroom. Its layout is very similar to one that you find occupying the whole width of many caravans, with a step-in shower.

XC Lite
This is the family Xplore, with an L-shaped lounge that transforms into a double bed, and a two-person dining area on the offside at the rear that make into a single bed with a fold-down bunk above it. A ladder is provided for the top bunk.
The shower/toilet room is combined, and is at the rear on the nearside. The kitchen is forward of the door, with a hinged extension to augment workspace. On the offside, close to the lounge seating, is a corner television table; it’s hinged, so that you can fold it flat to the wall when not in use.
The XC Lite’s layout – unique to Xplore – is tailor-made for a family with young children. It’s the smallest in the Xplore range, and the lightest, too.

XC Quad
The largest in the range; a four-berth with a fixed bed, the XC Quad was joint winner of the Best Caravan Under £30,000 in Caravan magazine’s 2025 awards.
Its bed is transversely aligned, with wardrobes and drawers on both sides. The shower room spans the rear of the caravan.
The Quad has parallel lounge seating. The kitchen is on the offside. Opposite, to the rear of the door, is a cabinet with a surface above that can be used as an additional kitchen area when required. The microwave is above this.
Buyers looking for a lightweight tourer with the luxury of a fixed bed will find the Quad ticks those boxes amply – and, as with all three of the Xplores, there’s a general air of quality, and super-modern styling everywhere.
That includes the black taps and shower fittings; a small point, maybe, but they make a style statement.
So, too, does the bedhead; it’s bright turquoise – and there’s even a dark turquoise door mat.
