Airstream and Porsche reveal concept travel trailer

The futuristic concept travel trailer has been developed with design firm, Studio F. A. Porsche

The first ‘garageable’ design in Airstream’s 90-year history, the single-axle, 4.99m-long concept travel trailer features advanced aerodynamics, including a new rear shape that sheds air while in motion, and the use of carbon fibre in some components for weight reduction, making it ideal for electric tow vehicles.

Adjustable height suspension allows the trailer to be stored in a standard residential garage, while integrated rooftop solar panels and a lithium battery system make it ideal for off-grid camping.

Inside, large windows and skylights invite the outside in, creating a spacious interior with a pop-up roof and a redesigned rear hatch, which features a hinge-up hatch and a drop-down tailgate where an awning can be attached.

The concept travel trailer’s layout is unlike any other in the current Airstream offering, with a rear dinette seating area converting into a sizeable double bed, and a front washroom adjacent to a galley kitchen, which features a hinge-up counter to create a generous L-shaped workspace.
