54 happy holiday years at Searles

Searles Leisure Group believes it may boast the country’s longest staying holiday lodge owner at its Park in Hunstanton.

Fred Grange had already been coming to Searles for holidays for some time before he brought his very first static caravan to the Park 54 years ago. He has seen many changes and developments to the Park over the years since his original caravan arrived on the site in the late 1950s. At that time it was placed next to an old gypsy caravan, and facilities were rather limited, with entertainment provided by a black and white TV in a shed!

But times changed, and over the next six decades the Searle family worked to provide a wide range of facilities and activities for their visitors. Fred stayed to watch all the changes, up-sizing to newer caravans as the years passed, and now the owner of one of the luxurious lodges on Fairway Court which is part of the Country Park area on Searles.

‘I’ve watched the Searle children grow up and take over the running of the business, and seen the facilities grow into the wonderful Park that exists today’, says Fred, who spends many weeks of the year in his peaceful lodge by the golf course.

A lodge on Searles Country Park’s new lodge-only development, Redgate Court, offers a combination of a tranquil location with all the facilities of the family Leisure Park and sandy beaches close by.

Searles Country Park also offers a touring park for motorhomes, caravans and tents, along with holiday homes to hire. The Park has a wealth of facilities including an outdoor pool, many restaurants, entertainment and activities for children.
