Halse Farm Caravan & Camping Park

Halse Farm Caravan & Camping Park is a small campsite on a working farm situated adjacent to Exmoor. It offers ample walking possibilities and wonderful views across the countryside especially from the site. The site is very open. The first field is for mainly tents and in the second field, part of which slopes down to the farmhouse, are the facilities block and the pitches for caravans and motorhomes with hardstanding.

Because it is a working farm the campsite is surrounded by fields and there are signs that inform you where it is safe to go, particularly with dogs. The facilities area at the entrance to the second field is very pleasing with a parking area, a lovely display of flowers and many bird feeders.

The recent building of the toilet block made it a particularly delightful amenity especially as it is heated. Cleverly built into the block was a telephone kiosk that was sufficiently large enough to contain extensive information about various attractions to be found in the surrounding area.

The laundry and dishwashing facilities, which can be found near the toilet block, are plentiful. On the opposite side of the field was a playground and space for ball games for children. Just a short walk away is the delightful village of Winsford, where can provisions be bought, as there isn’t a shop on the campsite, and is also an enchanting place to visit. For a more energetic activity, immediately outside the park entrance is Exmoor with footpaths leading off across the moor including one to the famous Tarr Steps.

This is an ideal place to exercise dogs, especially useful as there isn’t a designated dog exercise area on the campsite. Despite being on a working farm this is a really tranquil site on Exmoor. Due to the close proximity of livestock extra caution is necessary to ensure dogs remain under strict control. Close by there is lots to see as well as a plethora of walking opportunities from easy and gentle trots, to really vigorous ones. However, as mists can descend quickly, you do need to be well prepared.
