Located just 1.5 miles from the peaceful town of Haltwhistle, Northumberland, with its wide range of amenities, Herding Hill Farm is an AA Platinum pennant, five-star camping and glamping site in Northumberland. Less than one mile from the most impressive sections of Hadrian's Wall and only a short distance from the scenic Northumberland National Park. The AD122 Hadrian’s Wall bus stops at the site entrance between April and October allowing guests to visit all the major attractions along the wall between Hexham and Haltwhistle. Great way to walk the wall.

Herding Hill Farm is a Dark Sky Friendly Site and is ideal for stargazing. Guests can enjoy the amazing Northumberland dark skies from their tent or touring pitch, Wigwam cabin, luxury lodge or en-suite glamping pod. Stargazing kits available for hire. Local stargazing talks available.

Surrounded by the stunning Northumberland countryside, this five-star campsite is ideal for a weekend or short break, with a range of stunning walks and Roman attractions close by. For longer breaks our Northumberland campsite is within an hour’s drive of the Lake District, Cumbrian coast, Scottish borders, Kielder Water and the beaches and castle of the Northumberland coast.

The town of Haltwhistle is only 1.5 miles away and is a quaint place with many shops, pubs and cafes. There is also a small Sainsburys and Co-Op. Haltwhistle has a fabulous outdoor swimming pool with water slides which is really popular with younger guests. Several takeaways will also deliver to the site for a small fee. There are a large selection of walks direct from the campsite and the Milecastle pub, a 10-minute walk, with a marvellous beer garden, serves home-cooked food and local Northumberland real ales.

The site is open all year round and the heated glamping pods are perfect for any season. Herding Hill Farm operates a quiet site policy after 10.30pm and does not allow large groups.

Dog friendly and family friendly, Herding Hill Farm has a variety of accommodation to suit all guests. All grass tent and hardstanding touring pitches have electric and there are a number of serviced touring pitches. There are a range of family-friendly glamping pods to suit all budgets, including some glamping pods with private outdoor hot tubs and some with en-suite toilets. A luxury three-bedroom lodge with outdoor hot tub and luxury glamping pods with hot tubs for adults only complete the site.

The luxury five-star amenity block, complete with underfloor heating and sauna, available for exclusive hire, is comparable to a five-star hotel. It includes an indoor camper’s kitchen and information room with vending machines, drying room and laundry, disabled/family bathroom, shower facilities, toilets (the ladies has two private bathrooms that have baths inside) and pot washing up area. There is also a hot water dog wash.

Herding Hill Farm is home to an animal petting farm, with donkey, Shetland pony, alpacas, goats, piglets and a variety of small animals. Children are welcome to join in the animal feeding twice daily. Children's playground and large ball field with nets. Large scenic dog walk with wonderful views of the Haltwhistle valley. Small, licensed shop selling essentials and a range of local produce including Northumberland ales, barbecue and breakfast packs. In season (April-October) enjoy home-cooked pizza delivered direct to your pitch or glamping pod on a Friday evening.

Barebecue hut seating up to 20 people with large outdoor patio area available for hire. Fire pits, barbecues, croc boxes, linen packs available for hire. Party celebration packs available for that special occasion.

You can be sure of a warm welcome from Sue, Phil and their team at Herding Hill Farm
