Clippesby Hall has to be the ultimate in caravan parks. There are eight different woodland areas in which to stay, with mature trees, natural woods and well-cut grass, with a mix of caravans and tents.
The centrally heated toilet blocks are amongst the best we have seen, with individual shower cabinets and privacy cubicles in elegant tiling, plenty of disabled facilities, plus a full-sized family bathroom.
You could spend your holiday here without moving off the park, for there are bikes to hire and plenty of facilities for the children.
There’s crazy golf, too, located beside Base Camp, which serves light snacks and lunches during the day, or you can enjoy an espresso while using the internet.
Tennis courts are also in the grounds and rackets can be hired. Even the dog is well catered for in the 34 acres although they must be kept on leads. The information centre can provide good walking routes off-site too. There are some beautiful log cabins and lodges to rent if the family want to join you for your holiday, too.
The Park has won the David Bellamy Conservation Award and the Norfolk Tourism Award for 2006 as ‘Best in Norfolk’.
The Broads can be explored by car or bike, in a canoe, or hire a cruiser for the day to see the unique landscape at first hand, with its abundant wildlife and scenery. The site’s managers have compiled their own ‘Discover the Broads’ guide, offering a wealth of information and ideas to enhance your visit.
Close by is the new ‘Bewildering’ attraction, offering a unique way to experience the landscape of the area. In early September they have the Autumn Beer Festival. Great Yarmouth is not too far away, with its long, sandy beach ideal for swimming and sea fishing, and the Pier, with its amusements. The Circus is here, too, with its famous racecourse and stadium for greyhound and stock car racing.
There is an Elizabethan House Museum, a Potteries & Herring Museum and Time & Tide Museum – in fact, something for everyone, no matter what your age. And in any weather, too!
