Set a few miles away from the harbour town of Porthmadog, this Welsh site caters for motorhomes and caravans and is a few minutes drive from the superb beach at Blackrock Sands. All the caravan and motorhome pitches are set on hardstandings and have electric hook-ups or full service facilities. There are three toilet blocks with family washrooms and disabled facilities, plus a laundry with iron. The shop sells a range of food and drink, plus accessories and gifts. If you prefer not to cook there's a rustic bar and restaurant, too.

Tyddyn Llwyn is a privately-owned site that is set in 53 acres of grounds. It's easy to find as it's located directly off the Fford Morfa Bychan Road and is set well back from the road accessed up a tarmac roadway.

The main reception building is opposite a car park and also houses a shop that sells everything from ice cream to windbreaks. It offers basic food and drink supplies (nearby Porthmadog offers a variety of supermarkets). Caffeine addicts will be pleased to note that it also has a coffee machine, too. The shop also has a small library of books to borrow.

The restaurant, Tŷ Mŵg ‘Beer & Brisket’ Smokehouse, has a great menu to tempt you all in. The concept is American Smokehouse with Welsh sourced meats being cooked ‘low & slow’. All the meat is cooked and smoked in-house and served with an extensive variety of delicious fries & sides. Along with regular traditional pub fayre they also serve a wide range of soft and alcoholic drinks including a range of locally brewed Real Ales. There is plenty of space for you to come and eat, drink and generally just relax and enjoy yourself, as well as a newly refurbished outdoor patio area for you to sit and enjoy views over the countryside - please note the restaurant is temporarily closed but the bar is fully open - please check when booking.

Children will appreciate the large outdoor play area with a slide and climbing frame. Plenty of greenery surrounds the site, too, with rolling hills in all directions. You can directly access many of the mountain footpaths from the site, so pack your boots.

The caravan and motorhome pitches are accessed by gravelled roads and are all on hardstandings. Serviced pitches have 10 amp hook-ups, while Premium pitches are larger and have 16 amp electric hook-ups. Both benefit from fresh and grey water points. All pitches have access to WiFi, too.

There are three toilet blocks on the campsite, all of high quality with the largest slate-roofed version featuring modern washbasins and spacious showers. All three toilet blocks have dish washing areas and there's a laundry room with washing machines, ironing board and tumble driers.

As Tyddyn Llwyn is so near to the pretty and vast stretch of beach at Black Rock Sands it has something of a dual nature; families seeking beach holidays will love it, while couples looking to climb the surrounding scenery will also appreciate its charms. Equally, it manages to pull of the neat trick of being within walking distance of the amenities of Porthmadog (while is about half-a-mile away), while being peaceful and tranquil at the same time.
