Galmpton Touring Park offers 120 pitches set on a gently sloping campsite that overlooks one of the widest parts of the River Dart. The pitches are in terraced rows and are south-facing so they catch the evening sun. The campsite shop offers basic camping groceries (plus newspapers and fresh bread to order), a well-equipped toilet block, complete with laundry room, disabled bathroom and a children’s washroom. The Manor pub is within walking distance and serves food while there are local shops nearby. The campsite is an ideal base for exploring the whole Torbay region. ...

Located close to Brixham in Devon, Galmpton Touring Park is centrally located and ideal for the visiting the coastal delights of Torquay and Paignton, or for walking in Dartmoor.

The reception area is to the left of the entrance and is also home to the campsite shop. This sells basic groceries, such as bread, milk and butter, together with cleaning products and washing powders. Newspapers and locally baked bread (such as croissants and baguettes) can also be ordered. Opposite the shop is a tourist information room, packed with tourist leaflets and maps of the local area.

The campsite itself has 120 pitches set on the side of a gently sloping site. Sixty of these pitches are touring pitches for caravans or motorhomes, while the remainder are for tents. In total 75 have 10 amp electrical hook-up. There are also a limited number of deluxe pitches available, which additionally have grey water and fresh water connections, with a couple being on hardstandings (with more scheduled to be built).

The touring pitches are mostly arranged on terraced lines and are all mainly level, while the camping field has a gentle slope to it. All pitches have fantastic views over a wide section of the River Dart and it’s relaxing to watch the various boats cruising about here. All pitches are south-facing too, so this is the perfect place to watch the sun set with a glass of your favourite poison.

The toilet block is set at the top end of the site, roughly in the middle of the touring pitches and looks to have originally been a private house (and quite a nice one at that). It’s brick-built and offers plenty of toilets, showers and sinks, with tiled floors throughout. A separate key is provided for the disabled washroom and there’s also a children’s bathroom complete with a tiny bath and shower, as well as baby changing facilities. Also in this block is a laundry room with a washing machine, a couple of tumble driers, a hand-wash sink and an iron and board.

As well as having plenty of open greenery to run about on, children are also provided with an outdoor play area that includes, swings, a slide, a climbing frame and an old motorboat to clamber over.

While there is no bar or restaurant on this campsite – peace and quiet taking priority here – the Manor Pub is just a short walk away and is said to serve good food. Also within walking distance are a general store, post office and a butcher. For a wider choice of produce, there is a large Sainsbury's within half-a-mile of the site.
