St Just-In-Roseland, Nr St Mawes, Truro, Cornwall, South West. TR2 5JF
Opening Times: 28 March-1 October
Prices: From £33 (2 adults, pitch, electric)
The campsite is owned and run by three generations of the Akeroyd family who are very proud of their superb park and work hard to keep it really well maintained. Their commitment to high standards has been recognised by their many awards.
Nestling in a valley, surrounded by farmland, this is the perfect rural retreat for couples seeking peace and quiet. The quiet atmosphere of the park and the un-commercialised area may not suit those who enjoy a bar and entertainment.
The park is well signed off the A3078. The approach lane is narrow and single-tracked so the owners request that departures are by 11am and arrivals after 1pm to ensure that units do not meet in the lane.
Trethem Mill is a touring park only and there is a comfortable and spacious feel as it covers just under 12 acres. The 80 pitches are suitable for caravans, motorhomes and tents and are individually hedged to provide space and privacy. There is a choice of all-weather and grass pitches (all with 16-amp electric & TV point) as well as 29 fully serviced pitches (with additional water & waste connection). Every pitch has the benefit of a wooden picnic table. The area around reception is beautifully landscaped and features a small watermill built among the flowers.
Facilities offered include an immaculate, heated toilet block, individual shower rooms, hairdryers, disabled shower room, indoor dishwashing, launderette, ice-pack freezing room, licensed shop, electric vehicle charging points available (charge applies) and information area. There is a separate three-acre dog and nature walk which is perfect for exercising your dog or to just enjoy a quiet stroll. There is free WiFi available throughout the park. A wood fired pizza van is on site weekly as well as a mobile fish and chip van.
The Roseland Peninsula has an array of coastal and country walks and provides many opportunities for bird-watching and fishing. There are numerous quiet and sandy beaches and the area is a boating haven. The calm and sheltered waters are perfect for all water sports with some of the best coves only accessible by boat. You can also experience the Roseland from the water by taking one of the many boat and pleasure trips available. The church at St. Just-in-Roseland, described by some as the most beautiful church in England, is just a short walk away by the edge of the water.
Within an hour of travelling you can reach many places of interest including the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trebah Gardens, National Maritime Museum and the National Trust garden at Trelissick. For a unique way to cross the river Fal you can use the King Harry chain ferry, a valuable link between the Roseland and the rest of the County.
