This small farm campsite offers 15 pitches, with electric hook-up, on a well-cut grass campsite. There is currently old farm machinery dotted about the place (which is great if you like that sort of thing). If the brand-new, modern, heated toilet block is an indicator of the campsite's new standard, it's going to be a great campsite. There are also disabled facilities, as well as a further six pitches in a separate field with hook-up and water points plus twenty tent pitches in another field. Small shed acts as reception / information room. ...

The campsite is reached through the small village of Banwell, so is not suitable for larger vans (check with owner to see if your larger outfit will fit).

The main area is on the side of the road so can be noisy at all times. The campsite is somewhat spoiled, for us, by the many dilapidated farm buildings and broken machinery littering the site which clients have to walk through to get to the toilet block, but the owner assures us that all this will be cleared in 2011 when the whole site is upgraded.

If the modern toilet block is indicative of this, then it will be a very nice park when work is completed. However, at present it leaves a great deal to be desired, as there appears to be little or no drainage in the two fields, or any access road, so when it rains the ground is quickly chewed up by vans/cars.

The quaint town of Clevedon, with its flat sandy beach and safe swimming, has a long Victorian Pier, and offers a quiet seaside holiday away from the crowds. There is a famous Craft Centre here, providing workshops for individual talented designers and artists, and you can spend hours watching these skilled people at work and, as if by magic, brooches, rings, ceramics and paintings come to life – to name a few.

The resort of Weston-Super-Mare is nationally renowned, with miles of sandy beach for safe swimming and sand castle building, and a huge array of seaside attractions including the Grand Pier, rising like a phoenix from the flames after the recent fire, and miniature railway.

The promenade offers long walks on summer evenings, or if the weather is wet you can spend the day at Seaquarium, where you can walk through spectacular underwater tunnels to see sharks, rays and other marine creatures swimming around you, or marvel at the riotous colours of Pufferfish and Seahorses and many other tropical species all in their natural habitat.

Nearby Glastonbury is home to the legendary Glastonbury Festival, which started in 1970 and has grown to become Europe’s foremost music event with a world-renowned line-up of artists. The Abbey is the town's best kept secret – right in the centre. It is the legendary burial place of King Arthur who, it is said, was brought here in a boat, mortally wounded from his last battle, and in 1191 the monks dug to find his remains and those of Queen Guinevere in the cemetery.

Joseph of Aramathea is said to have travelled here with the young Jesus, and the thorn tree which grows near the Abbots Kitchen is reputed to have come from his staff.  At Christmas time each year a cutting is sent to the Queen  for use on her Christmas lunch table.
