With its wonderful climate, stunning scenery and glorious beaches, Cornwall is one of the UK’s finest holiday destinations.

And there’s no doubt that camping is easily the best way to enjoy a stay in this part of the country.

There are campsites everywhere – from tiny corners of muddy grass at the back of country pubs to massive holiday parks with every facility you can possibly imagine..

Should I choose north or south coast?

The north coast of Cornwall is more exposed to the winds from the Atlantic Ocean and therefore more rugged with sheer cliffs and steep valleys. The south coast is more sheltered with hidden coves, wooded valleys and popular fishing ports.

Wherever you choose to take a coastal walk or set up your deckchair, you’ll not be disappointed. And if you fancy seeing the whole of the Cornish coastline, the South West Coast Path runs round the entirety of Cornwall’s coast.

Miles of brilliant beaches to visit

Whether you want go swimming, paddling, rockpooling, surfing or just lazing around on the sand, you’ll find the perfect beach in Cornwall. It’s no secret that Cornwall’s beaches are some of the best in the world. With more than 300 spanning the 250-plus miles of coastline you are spoilt for choice. From vast, sandy beaches that are popular with families to secluded tiny coves, there are coastal delights here in spades.

Amazing surfing for beginners and experts

You can’t go to Cornwall without giving surfing a try. For the beginner, Holywell Bay School of Surf is the place to go. They are based right on the beach and the expert instructors will have you hanging 10 in no time.

Bude is a lovely sleepy beach town in North Cornwall with a selection of great beaches, good surf and a long history of surfing.

Widemouth Bay, a little to the south, is a very popular surf spot while the harbour beach, Summerleaze, is safe for beginners, even in the worst stormy weather.

Family-friendly attractions

The Eden Project is probably Cornwall’s most famous attraction, with two huge domes that each hold a self-contained climate and ecosystem.

St Austell is located a mile inland from Cornwall’s stunning south coast. After a tin and copper boom in the 18th century, clay took over in the 19th and much of the town’s prosperity is as a result of the vast clay pits dotted around the area.

The amazing privately-owned Lost Gardens of Heligan, fell into dereliction after the manor house staff departed for the Great War, but were rediscovered and restored from 1990 onwards.

The seaside resort of Newquay is lively and bustling and full of family-friendly attractions, as well as world-famous Fistral Beach
